Job Summary: The Staff Accountant is a pivotal role responsible for the preparation and review of financial documents, reports, and statements. This position actively engages in various accounting processes and procedures, supporting the Controller in managing the Accounting and Finance group. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, monitor financial activities, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization.


Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Monitoring:
  • Monitor financial activities, including cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee cash and check transactions, making timely and accurate deposits.
  1. Disbursement Authorization:
  • Receive, record, and authorize requests for disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  1. Reporting Assistance:
  • Assist the Controller/CPA in preparing required and ad hoc financial reports.
  • Record payments received from customers and maintain accurate records.
  1. Transaction Handling:
  • Create and record quotes, sales orders, and purchase orders; ensure accurate tracking of transactions with vendors.
  1. Verification and Accuracy:
  • Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
  1. Payment Processing:
  • Monitor and record transactions from payment gateways such as Stripe, ProPay, and Shopify.
  1. Record Maintenance:
  • Oversee maintenance of job cards, enrollments, sales orders, payments, refunds, and credit memos.
  • Record all accommodation-related transactions.
  1. Audit Support:
  • Assist in audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes.
  1. Policy Compliance:
  • Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies, federal and state policies, directives, and accounting standards.
  1. Tax Preparation:
  • Assist in the preparation of annual tax returns and collaborate in preparing financial information for external CPAs.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting roles.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks software.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
