Payroll Supervisor – Lead Payroll Excellence in a Growing Organization

Are you an experienced payroll professional with a passion for precision and compliance? Our client, a leading manufacturer of consumer products, seeks a dedicated Payroll Supervisor to oversee payroll operations for an expanding workforce across multiple states, including a new facility in Colorado.

In this role, you’ll handle payroll for 850 employees (with a projected growth to over 1,000), plus approximately 80-90 temporary agency employees, managing weekly and bi-weekly pay cycles for both hourly and exempt employees. You’ll supervise a skilled payroll team, collaborate closely with HR and finance, and ensure compliance with complex state and federal regulations.

This role supports recent growth within the organization, including the acquisition of a new facility in Colorado, which brings additional state compliance requirements. Our client needs a full-time payroll expert who can confidently navigate the intricacies of multi-state payroll, with a particular focus on California, North Carolina, and Colorado.

What You'll Do

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
• Supervise and support a Payroll Administrator and Payroll Accountant, promoting a cohesive and high-performing team.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance on payroll functions, audits, and data integrity.
• Provide exceptional customer service, addressing payroll-related inquiries across all levels of the organization.
• Oversee compliance with California’s wage and hour laws and ensure payroll practices align with organizational standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with 10+ years of payroll experience in a mid-sized organization.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience and a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
• Proven expertise in multi-state payroll, payroll systems, wage tax compliance, and employee garnishment processing.
