Controller

North Orange County, CA | On-site

$150,000–$160,000 base + bonus (details to follow)

 

We are engaged with a well-established manufacturing company in North Orange County to identify a Controller to lead accounting and financial operations. This is a succession hire following the planned retirement of a long-tenured Controller, working closely with a CFO who has been with the organization for decades.

 

This role is ideal for a manufacturing Controller who values stability, strong fundamentals, and long-term leadership impact.

 

Position Overview

The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations for a multi-facility manufacturing environment. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective manufacturing cost accounting while partnering closely with operations and executive leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close in accordance with GAAP
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements
• Manage external audits and maintain strong internal controls

Manufacturing Cost Accounting

• Oversee standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and WIP
• Partner with operations to analyze costs and drive profitability

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support annual budgeting and forecasting
• Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to leadership

Inventory & Systems

• Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventories
• Support ERP systems and continuous improvement initiatives

Leadership

• Lead and develop the accounting team (3–5 direct reports)
• Collaborate with plant leadership, supply chain, and executive teams

Qualifications

Required

• CPA required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Manufacturing accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and cost accounting

Preferred

• ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Prior people leadership experience

Compensation

• Base salary: $150,000–$160,000
• Bonus opportunity (details to follow)
