Job Title: Staff Accountant with Sales Tax Experience!
Location: Irvine, CA or Henderson, NV
Employment Type: Full-time, On-site (5 days a week)
Reports To: CFO and Senior Controller
Salary Range: $60,000 – $80,000, based on experience
About the Role:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Sales Tax Accountant to join our finance team. (Direct Hire) This role offers an exciting opportunity for recent graduates or those with some accounting experience who are eager to grow their expertise in sales tax accounting. The successful candidate will handle multi-state sales tax responsibilities, work closely with our CFO and Senior Controller, and contribute to our dynamic finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Multi-State Sales Tax Management: Prepare and file sales tax returns for states including NY, NV, CA, TX, OR, and FL.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to state and local tax regulations.
- Account Analysis: Analyze and reconcile sales tax accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Tax Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports.
- Collaborative Strategy: Work with the CFO and Senior Controller on tax-related financial strategies and reporting.
- Special Projects: Participate in special tax projects with the finance team as needed.
- Automation Tools: Utilize Avalara or Avatax for managing and automating sales tax processes.
- Financial Management: Use NetSuite for financial management and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of sales tax experience, with a preference for experience in multiple states (NY, NV, CA, TX, OR, FL).
- Software Knowledge: Familiarity with Microsoft GP (Great Plains), Avalara/Avatax, and NetSuite is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact directly with the CFO and senior leadership.
